Panthers and Bruins Combine for 136 Penalty Minutes in Wild Third Period
A record-breaking number of penalties were called in the third period of the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers game on Tuesday night.
The teams combined for 136 penalty minutes in the period, breaking the previous record of 128 minutes set in a game between the Bruins and Montreal Canadiens in 1981.
The penalties included 10 fighting majors, four slashing penalties, and two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. The game was also delayed for over 20 minutes due to the numerous penalties.
The Bruins ended up winning the game 5-3, but the game was overshadowed by the record-breaking number of penalties.
The Panthers are now 1-3-1 this season, while the Bruins are 3-1-0.
